BOUNCE! Brighter Futures Foundation is a registered mental health charity in Devon, providing psychotherapeutic support and improving emotional and behavioural outcomes.
Our specialist team provides in-depth psychotherapeutic support to children, young people and their parents/carers. We believe offering the right help at the right time and working closely with and supporting the whole family promotes the best possible outcomes and the best chance of a bright future.
We offer a range of different therapies including child and adolescent counselling, art therapy, dramatherapy, Dyadic Developmental Therapy (DDP), child and adolescent psychotherapy and adult counselling and psychotherapy.
We work from a community hub in central Tiverton where we run a contribution-based service that can be easily accessed by parents, carers and other professionals and we also offer a service within schools.
My child had a very positive experience, she was validated, heard, had time just for her, gained insights into her family relationships, learnt skills, told her story, built a relationship with a trusted adult, engaged in really useful and transformational role play exercises, learnt to find her voice more, grew in confidence and felt less […]

Due to long waiting lists for mental health care this is vital. Parents need the support & information that this service offers.

Many of my patients report how fantastic your service is. So valuable especially with the lack of access to CAMHS.

We are enormously grateful to BOUNCE! who support our pupils with weekly 1:1 psychotherapy. This support is enabling the pupils to access mainstream schooling despite challenging behaviour which is often conducive with exclusions. Despite the high numbers of pupils with SEMH needs in our school, we have incredibly few incidents of exclusion. In these challenging […]

Located in central Tiverton and providing therapy to children and young people (5 to 25 years) and parents/carers.
You make our work possible – fundraise, volunteer, donate or work for us.
We also work with partner schools with the aim of improving mental health and building resilience in children, their families and the wider school community; improving learning outcomes and creating happier learners, school communities and families.
We embed one of our qualified and experienced therapists into the school environment, normally one day a week. Our therapists use a whole school approach to support, children, young people, parents/carers and educators. Helping children who are struggling with emotional and behavioural difficulties often has a positive impact on the whole class and wider school environment, allowing teachers to focus on teaching and school leaders to lead.
In 2023, around 1 in 5 children and young people aged 8 to 25 had a mental health difficulty. The Mental Health of Children and Young People in England 2023 report found that 20.3% of 8- to 16-year-olds had a probable mental health disorder in 2023. Among 17- to 19-year-olds the proportion was 23.3%, while in 20- to 25-year-olds it was 21.7%.
83% of young people with mental health needs agreed that the coronavirus pandemic had made their mental health worse.
Nearly half of 17- to 19-year-olds with a diagnosable mental health disorder has self-harmed or attempted suicide at some point, rising to 52.7% for young women.
In a YoungMinds survey, 76% of parents said their child’s mental health deteriorated while waiting for support from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
Children from the poorest 20% of households are four times as likely to have a serious mental health difficulty by the age of 11 when compared to the wealthiest 20% of households.
Experiencing a mental health problem in childhood is one of the biggest barriers to achieving wellbeing yet only one quarter of children affected are getting specialist help (Green et al, 2005).
Early intervention is key as half of all mental health problems manifest by the age of 14. Without help many of these mental health problems persist into adult hood.
We make a difference!
Direct feedback from teaching and support staff at our partner schools indicates that of the children we work with:
93% show an improvement in their mental health.
60% find it easier to make and keep friends.
60% show an improvement in their behaviour at home.
84% of those who were causing problems in class now cause fewer problems.
100% are more able to access learning.
The outcome measures that we use at our hub-based community indicate that 84% of the children, young people and parents we work with, show an improvement in their mental health.
96% of our clients complete their therapy.
In 2023, I was pregnant and had gestational diabetes, the mother of a toddler, a teacher and wife of a highly immunosuppressed husband. All of these things had their challenges, but the biggest was navigating them all from the shadows of a towering, sinister presence that loomed over me every day: trauma...
